  2. nice tool! thank you very much. still i have no idea how to burn an unscambled iso in os x. do you mean the disc utility tool from os x? just drag and drop and burn?

i guess toast should do the job as well as far as anyone knows what to enter in required pregap and postgap field.

    thanks for your info.

  3. wow! that sounds really easy. i will have a try than. hope it works. if i am going to burn a coaster, i will send it right back to your home postal adress. ;)

thank you for your help and the quick reply!

  4. You can also use hdiutil in terminal to burn. I tried in via Disk Utility and the verification failed. So, I tried via terminal using hdiutil and it worked great. Although, as far as I know, Disk Utility might even be just a GUI for hdiutil…

  5. hmmm, was really happy to read that there is a possibility to unscamble images on a mac but now that i first tried the app on my g5 2×2 GHz PPC under OS X 10.4.8 i had no luck. unscrambler just quits with the report that there can be no seed found in sector 0.

    thats the code i entered:
    unscramble name.wii name.iso

directory settings seem to be right as the .wii gets found in the terminal app.

any suggestions or does this just work under intel macs?

  6. the easiest way:
    open the terminal,
drag and drop the unscrambler programm file in the terminal window, now drag and drop the .wii file in the terminal window TWICE, delete the .wii from the last dropped filename und change it to .iso press enter — done — the problem is on the ppc i always get the no seed found error, on my intelmac it just works

  7. as i already stated i get the same errors on a ppc-mac than chriis.
    “no seed found in…”
seems that this little baby just works without errors on intel-macs even though it is compiled as a universal binary.

  8. “It seems to me that the byte ordering difference between PPC / X86 is the reason for that problem.”

Do you think there is a way to get that fixed or does it mean a complete recoding of the application?

  9. Hi

How do i actualy use this app? Do i need to enter the path of the .wii file?

A small guide would be awsome!

    Any plans for a GUI?

Thank you so much! I still can’t use it though. The app’s icon is crossed out and i get a message that it’s “not supported on this system”.

If I take info on the app, it says “Kind: Application (Intel)”
Version says 2.0 although the zip file was labeled 2.1…

Is it “stand alone” or do I need to download the updated Unscramble binary separately?

    (G5 Dual, running 10.4.9)

  11. That’s weird. It’s only Applescript, so it shouldn’t be platform specific. Only the binaries inside should be. I’ll investigate.

  12. Jim, thanks for your efforts, but it still doesn’t work. The app doesn’t give an error message as it did before, but when dropping a .wii file on the icon, nothing happens. Neither on PPC or Intel…
(Yes, the wii file is fine)

  13. same here. the version 2.0 gives an error message “this application cannot be used on your system” on my G5 PPC running 10.4.9 as it seems to be an intel version only (shown in info screen). version 2.5 just does nothing at all when dropping a wii image onto it.

  14. concerning to the 2.5 version on a PPC it seems to be a good idea to extract the unscramble_ppc out of the package and copy it to a location next to the wii images. just drop the app into a terminal window, than drop the wii image onto it and afterwards type the name of the desired iso (f.e. wiigamename.iso). press return and you should be fine. the compiler starts to do its work. still have no idea if it will do the job as i am just about to compile my first image on a ppc right now.

  15. finished to unscramble the images. works just fine even though not with the provide GUI but with the unscramble_pcc from the package content.

here´s a how to for PPC:
    - unzip UnscrambleWii 2.5.zip
    - open package content of the UnscambleWii (control click the icon)
    - navigate to Contents/resources
    - copy unscramble_ppc to the folder where you wii images are located
    - open the terminal app
    - type cd (do NOT hit return afterwards!)
    - drag the unscramble_pcc icon to the terminal
    - drag your .wii image to the terminal
    - type in the desired name of the iso(nameofthegame.iso)
    - hit enter
    - wait till the app finished unscrambling (takes a few minutes)
    - you know what follows

    cheers,
    hi2hello

  16. I don’t have time now to look at why 2.5 didn’t work for you guys, sorry. However, the methods mentioning extracting the unscramble_ppc from within UnscrambleWii are taking a long way around. I just used the binary linked to above. Download that directly and save yourselves a few steps!

  17. hey guys

I’m on OS X 10.4.9, Intel iMac… when I try running the unscrambler in the terminal – I get the no seed error (I am typing everything in right, I am sure of it). When I tried running the GUI, I actually get another error:

    “EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0×0001)
    KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0×0002) at 0×00000000

    Thread 0 Crashed:
    0 0 0
    1 start 41″

That happens at launch. Any idea why?

  18. Hi,

i have a macbook and the same problem. with the unscramble tool i get the no seed error. when i use the gui version simply nothing happens, no termnal window opens or anything….

Does anyone have any help for me??

  19. i have a pc using unscrambler 0.4. i too get the error no seed found at sector 0. i cant understand why someone said to me that the image file needs to be in its original location. if it is copied to another folder then the unscrambler wont work is this true?

  20. I have a question, i have a WiiKey and have transferred the .iso directly from the console to the mac via SD card.

The image that is created using discdumper on the Wii is an .iso file

However burning this .iso straight to DVD-R using Disk Utility results in an unreadable disc.

Do I need to unscramble the .iso?

    Any help appreciated.

  21. sukoshi no you dont you just burn the iso to disc using clone cd set to display all image files burn at 2.4x speed for best results. alos check that your dvd burner is bit set to dvd-rom.

  22. Thanks so much for all the help in this thread.

My question is, how does one rip a Wii game using a Mac? PPC or Intel, either way. I want to backup the games I’ve got, but I don’t want to have to download them off bittorrent to get a backup.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

  23. dale.

the unscrambler doesnt rip wii games it unscrambles wii games you have already ripped that are in .wii .wod .god format to .iso format so your backups can be burnt straight to a disc. to rip your wii games i suggest you get yourself a copy of raw dump 2.0 gui.

  24. I know the unscrambler is used when you already have a ripped game, but I just thought I’d ask about the ripping since people in this thread seem knowledgable. I’ve read all kinds of forums and it seems like the only way to rip a Wii game is to use a Windows PC with a certain kind of LG DVD drive in it.

So Raw Dump 2.0 will let me rip my games using my Mac? Sweet! I’ll start looking around…

  25. Only if you have an Intel mac and windows installed (natively, vmware, paralellis etc). It’s a windows app .exe file so only runs under a Windows OS.

I’m hoping some nice person will compile a UB version of this app for all the Mac people.

Sadly I’m still in PPC G5 Mac land until I update in a few months to an Intel Mac. So I just use Virtual PC and Windows 2000 to do it. Works OK.
